What would you do if you were locked in your favorite store overnight?

One of my favorite stores is Target because they have EVERYTHING!! 😍

If I were locked in there overnight, I would have a big to-do list. First of all I'd invite some of my best friends to stay there with me for both company and so that we could all play games. I'd want to try on all the clothes there and have a fashion show with the ugliest combination we could create! We could also try all the fun beauty products from testing nail polish colors to different crimpers, curlers, and straighteners. I'd also have a bunch of fun reading, coloring the coloring books, riding the bikes, and playing all the board games, plus we'd have access to all the music Target sells so we could have a really fun dance party or something!

Of course we'd all have to take advantage of all the food at Target too! Since our Target has a Starbucks we'd be able to make frappucinos and eat scones from there, or have Icees and soft pretzels from the snack bar. AND ICE CREAM! I think it'd be super fun to go to the ice cream isle in the grocery section and taste a little bit from each flavor. Not to mention there's pretty much every snack food available there.

Also (as stupid as it sounds), I'd make sure we all had time to play hide and seek or sardines in the dark just because that would be so super fun in such a big store!

Blog Prompt: What do you think you would like to do after High School? Which career, where to go, what to do? Explain why :)!

I'm still unsure about what I might like to do after high school. I know I'm going to go to college for a bachelor and master's degrees (minimum), I'm just not sure what in. Right now I'm considering all sorts of careers: physical therapist, pediatric endocrinologist, animator, lawyer, or maybe engineer (particularly a Disney Imagineer). I would like to go to school somewhere out of state (maybe Northern California, East Coast, or the South) and eventually study abroad for a while. I've always loved traveling and seeing to places and people so I'd really enjoy getting to explore a different part of the world while I was getting an education in whatever I end up choosing to major and have a career in.

Blog Prompt: If you could magically get the power to cast one spell for the rest of your life, what spell would you choose and why? Make up a name and purpose for your spell.

If I could create one spell that I would have the power to cast for the rest of my life it would be called "veraci cogitationsieve," from the latin phrase 'veraci cogitatione' meaning 'truthful thoughts' and  like the "pensieve" (Harry Potter memory collecter). It would allow me to not only read people's thoughts, but it would also enable me to tell which were their true feelings and what they were just making up. The "pensieve" part of the spell would allow me to also see their past thoughts to see how much they've changed

Blog Prompt: You have a source at the CDC and she has just informed you that the government has confirmed that the Zombie Apocalypse has begun. You have 24 hours to prepare before people in your town start turning. How will you use your time to prepare for the apocalypse?

In order to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse with only 24 hours notice I would want to make sure my friends and family were ok and by going to some kind of safe place. I would start by calling my family members and close friends to tell them about this confirmed apocalypse. I would choose a large safe building (someone's home, my church, etc.) and make sure we could all meet there and store supplies there. I would make sure to get non-perishable food, water, clothes, blankets, candles and matches, books, board games, and other supplies in large quantities and securely store them. I would also make sure to take some of my most valuable possessions (photo albums, special trinkets, family heirlooms, etc.). I would also purchase a lot of high quality locks to make sure the building was safe and make sure that no one (or nothing!) could get in. After the building was safe and prepared I would get as many of my friends and family in the "safe house" to do our best to attempt and survive this fictional apocalypse.

Blog Prompt: Write your favorite YWiC memory of this week!

My favorite YWiC memory of this week was finally successfully adding sound to my HTML page. I had to look through a bunch of different websites for the kind of code that would work. Then I had to find a free version of the audio I wanted. After I entered it into my code it still didn't work. I realized that the kind of audio file I found wasn't supported by my browser so I had to look for a website that would convert MP3 files to ogg files for free. Finally it worked and I was able to add "Married Life" from "Up" to my About Me page so that it would play automatically and on a loop. I was super excited about it and was really happy that I got it to work!! :)

Blog Prompt: Write a paragraph about space. Include the following words: hard drive tape keyboard program control

I'm not really sure what kind of space I'm supposed to talk about, but I'm guessing that it means space on a computer or something. So...
     On any given computer there is a certain amount of space available on the hard drive. When you download software and other programs some of that space is taken up. If you were to tape a video and add it to your computer this would also take up storage space. To find out how much space is available on a PC you can look at the controls on the My Computer icon. There are also keyboard controls/shortcuts that can show how much space you have left.

If you could travel anywhere and anytime (past, present, or future) where would you go? Why?

I would love to travel back in time the the 1950's! During this time period I would want to travel to as many places as I could during that time period. Everything was so classically beautiful from fashion to art to films. I love the vintage style of dress, it's so classic and polished! Art was also so incredible and something "new" to the time period. Jackson Polluck was popular and Andy Warhol was just entering the pop art scene. Films like Cinderella, the original The Father of the Bride, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Singing in the Rain, and Roman Holiday (the last three being some of my favorites) were coming out.

If you could change the world by developing a device using computer science, what would it be and how would it change the world we live in?

     If I could change the world by developing a device using computer science I would create a program that would be like a huge personal organizer. It would help you to create your schedule, plan what you could wear, give dinner recipes, etc. You would enter in appointments, meetings, school, etc. and what times they're at as well as other things you had to do and how long it takes. Then the program would analyze your input and create a balanced schedule for you to keep you organized. You could also enter in clothes or outfits and it would space them out on a calender for you. Another feature for the program would be a menu generator. You would be able to enter ingredients that you have in your refrigerator or pantry and it would come up with healthy recipes for them. So basically it would be a really nice organizer for your whole life which I think would save a lot of time (at least for me).

     I also had a lot of fun at camp today. My favorite part so far has been the HTML coding. The Live Code has definitely been the hardest part because it kept freezing up.

Someone New I Met at Camp Today

One new person I met at camp today was Benita. She is going to be a sophomore at Arrowhead in July. Her favorite color is pink, particularly fuschia or magenta. Two things we had in common were favorite food and some favorite hobbies. We both love ice cream. She likes pecan prailene, I can't choose a favorite but love Ben & Jerry's strawberry cheesecake. Some favorite hobbies of her's (and mine) are reading and writing.
